A Chat With... We're No Heroes

I knew I was going to thoroughly enjoy this interview when, upon sending an interview request, the email I had back was signed off with the 'Ok hand' emoji. This initial instinct was confirmed after reading the answers which were sent back to me and made me smile just as much as their music. Welcome... We're No Heroes

Summertime Songs

"Jeez, it's hot" said the entirety of Britain in union on Tuesday morning. Unlike most, I don't see what all the fuss is about. 2 months ago, we were complaining that it was cold, now it's too hot? Anyway, this sudden burst of heat means there's an odd choice of music on the radio at the moment. Apparently warmth is an excuse to play songs which would not be accepted at any other point in the year, generally europop, cheese and anything with 'sun' in the title- my favourite of which, I shall share with you now...

Best Covers

A week ago, I told you that The Half Eight's cover of Shut Up and Dance is my current favourite cover. However, it still has some competition before becoming my favourite of all time; and I wish to share some of these competitors with you.

A Chat With... The Half Eight

There are so many bands working their way up to success nowadays, it's difficult to find something exciting and original. However it does mean that, when you do find that one that stands out, it's even more special. Introducing, The Half Eight

How Did We End Up Here?!

10th June 2015- a few hours after the most horrific exam of my life, and filled with mild panic because my Dad was still stuck in traffic in my car, my sister and I bundled ourselves into Mum's car. Covered in incomplete make-up, possible odd shoes and a leather jacket, despite it being 900 degrees outside, we reversed roughly 3 metres out the drive, before Dad rolled round the corner in the car I'm insured to drive. Back up the drive we went, quick change of car- and we were off!

How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful

A short while ago, I wrote about a whole load of albums and music that I want but can't afford. Considering exam stress and general crapiness, it felt only right to treat myself to Florence and the Machine's new album. Plus, I write a music blog so it's just research, right?!

i don't even have a name for this playlist

I'm not going to lie to you- it's currently 9:15pm. I've been up and working since 6am, stopping just for snacks and tea. Therefore this is being written, hopefully 20 minutes before it's uploaded. Therefore, it's effectively going to be a whole load of crap I've recently been listening to, all put together in a playlist that, is so mismatched, I can't even think of a name for it. If you're one of the few who actually com here for credible music opinions, I recommend leaving now- come back next week. But for now, here are some songs I like.

Farewell Fearne

We all have that one person- not necessarily the person that we aspire to be or the person we take bucket-loads of inspiration from, but the person who we have uttermost respect for; the person we'd love to sit with in a room for an hour and talk about their story, their journey and learn about their life because they're just so fascinating, and you know you could talk to them for hours. Mine is Fearne Cotton.

"Real Music"

"Real Music" is a phrase that gets chucked around an awful lot, more often than not, although not exclusively and certainly not always, by rock/indie/alternative bands and their fans. And it's normally aimed towards more hip hop and dance records which angers me greatly. Surely if it's music, it's music- why dispute about the legitimacy?!

Miss Fletcher

Happy Friday all! This will probably be a bit of a quicker post than normal (but still just as fabulous) because I've had my first- and most stressful- exam today and what I really want to do is curl into a ball of sleep, for roughly 80 years as that's how long it's probably going to take for my blood pressure to return to normal and for my heart to stop palpitating ^.^

Musical Wish List

My iTunes is such a flop at the moment! There are so many albums I want to buy but, being a poor student, I don't have the money. Instead, I quite like to endlessly scroll the iTunes store for hours, looking at all the awesome music that I can't afford. I know, I know that I could just use Spotify instead but I don't bond with it like I do other streaming sites etc.. Maybe I'll give it another try soon!

Another Revision Playlist?!

Right, this'll be my last revision based post for a while because there's really not much else to say! I popped up a Revision Playlist post which seemed to go down really well a couple of weeks ago, and received a comment from postingvprojects (who you should totally check out!) asking for some more current songs. Well, your wish is my command!

Revision Playlist

As I'm sure many of you are aware, it's early revision season- which sucks. I'm in the final year of my A levels so I study 3 subjects and have about 9 exams coming up (if I've counted correctly). I'm mentioned lots of times, how much of a music lover I am, so during long revision days, I do love a good playlist which I wish to share with you. Now, I wouldn't recommend this say if, you're testing yourself on a topic or focusing really hard on something which requires 100% of your attention, but for those periods where you're just sat going through notes, making mind maps etc. I think this should be perfect...

Big Weekend Line Up- So far...

Tickets for Radio 1's Big Weekend went on sale this week, and I could not be more excited. Unfortunately, I won't be going because it's miles away and I'm poor as heck- but that won't stop me spending every second of the weekend, live streaming every single performance by every single artist. I'd quite like to comment on the current announced line-up if you're keen because so far, it's right up my street!

Chaos and the Calm- Review

I've got a lovely review for you today. This week, Chaos and the Calm by the lovely James Bay was released and I could not contain my excitement. I must have set around 5/6 alarms on my phone just to make sure that I was definitely awake when the album was finally released.. Obviously, it didn't disappoint and I wish to share with you my most favourite parts of it.

Pas de Deux

Today's post was supposed to be about underrated album tracks but, after hearing Dodie Clark's original song "Pas de Deux", I couldn't not write about it!

Another Playlist...

Once again, this post is brought to you via atrocious internet connection and the joy of scheduled uploading... Thank you for being so patient with me whilst the internet is rubbish! I know these posts are shorter than normal but I promise- there is nothing I can do about it. We have rung the company (who I shan't name out of politeness) countless times and they really are not responding. I think I'll write a rant-y post for Monday about the whole situation because it really is quite unbelievable how ignorant a company can be, but for now, I'll stick to a short, sweet playlist of songs I've been loving driving to lately- I hope that will do until I
can actually access this blog from my writing desk...

THE BRITS 2015

Considering it's music post Friday and The Brit Awards happened this week, surely it'd be rude to not discuss it? Being a big music fan, for me this is normally one of the most exciting nights of the year for me but I have to say, this year wasn't that great...

Forest Walk Playlist

I went for a really lovely forest walk today and wanted to share with you some of the songs I particularly enjoyed whilst on my travels. I thought that maybe if you have any plans before heading back to school/college/uni/work you could add these suggestions to your soundtrack ^.^

What Kind Of Man

At the time I am writing this, Florence + The Machine's video to What Kind Of Man has just been uploaded onto YouTube and, as I do love a bit of Florence, I thought I'd do a bit of a blog post about..
