Change... and How Not To Deal With It

I don't like change. Anything different to my normal schedule makes me feel rather uneasy and uncomfortable and I'm just not too great at handling it. Lately though things have been changing and I've realized, there really isn't any way of dealing with them other than just getting on with it.
Recently, there's been lot of change. People are leaving, others situations are changing and although I'm not the main centre of these changes, they do indirectly have an impact on me and my life. I don't mean to sound selfish- I certainly don't expect people to make their personal decisions based on the impact they will have on me- but it is sometimes a little tough to deal with. Unfortunately, people should and are often going to make decisions in order to benefit themselves and in those situations, sometimes you just need to sit back and let that happen. Even if it isn't desirable for you.

There will have been a time in your life when you've had to make a fairly big decision- whether it's about your education, your friends, yourself etc.- and that decision is not going to have a positive outcome on everyone unfortunately. That's just the way that things work. It sucks, but you can't please everyone- so stop trying to. Don't do what I do and completely crumble at any sign of confrontation. If you have been pondering over something for a while and you're dead certain about what you want the impact to be, as long as it isn't harming anyone purposely, it's fine for you to make that choice. And if someone's choice has an influence on you, if it's the right choice for them, you're probably just going to have to accept that- despite the fact it's kind of crap.

If you want to make a decision that might not best please your friends, that's okay. And if one of your friends makes a decision you don't necessarily approve of, you're just going to have to keep your mouth shut and let them learn from their mistakes.

Whatever you do, please don't do what I do and have done fairly recently. Don't make a big decision that you know will make you happy, get your hopes up that things are going to improve drastically, then be guilt tripped into changing your entire mind and ending up back at square one... You will meet many bad people as you grow up and once you've encountered them, it will be very difficult to get rid of them- because they cling on harder than a koala on a eucalyptus tree.

Reading that last paragraph back, it sounds awful serious and dark. Try and read it more sarcastically than seriously... It lightens up the mood slightly

Cheerio! Xxx

  1. Thank you so much for posting this! :( I seriously need this advice to be honest because I'm also afraid of change. I guess it's the reason why I still haven't applied for a job yet even though I already graduated from college last year. I'm a volunteer in support apps and websites though but I think it's time to actually earn money too.

By the way, I nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award. I really appreciate all the support you're giving me so I think it's time for me to actually give back aside from the comments and all that stuff, of course. :) You're one of the kindest bloggers I've ever encountered so I think you definitely deserve to be nominated. You can check out the post here. I hope you'll participate! xx
