Disney Films!

I did a similar post to this when I first started my blog, where I wrote about my favourite Disney Films. And I'd quite like to do one again, if you're keen? I've done a few serious posts lately and I think we all just need a bit of lighthearted, Disney magic to put us all at ease. Plus Tom, Gi and Carrie Hope Fletcher have all been discussing their top Disney films during a few 'Dear Tom/Gi/Carrie' videos so I thought I'd join in the fun!
These aren't in any particular order and I wouldn't say they're my all time favourites (and I haven't included Pixar films) but these are certainly what I've been watching a lot of at the moment:

1. I might as well start off with an obvious classic- Peter Pan. There isn't anything about this film that I don't like. Faith. Trust. Pixie Dust. There's nothing to dislike about it- it's practically perfect in every way!

2. Odd one, I know, but it's Raiponce- Tangled in French. I study French so obviously it's quite helpful to improve listening skills and learn new vocab, but y'know I See The Light? Possibly one of the most beautiful songs of all time in my opinion. Well the translation from French is even more stunning. I mean the final line is "Je veux croire en nous", which translates to "I want to believe in us" and if that doesn't tug on your heartstrings, I'm not sure anything will!

3. Another classic that will never not make my top 10 is The Fox and the Hound. Since I was a kid, it has forever been my favourite and I won't been kicking it out the top 10 any time soon

4. Obviously the new, live-action Cinderella is out so soon and, I for one am insanely excited. Although none of my pals have agreed to come with me yet (something about it being too childish...) I shall be seeing it as soon as possible and to prepare, I've been massively enjoying the original animation.

5. In my opinion, one of the most underrated Disney films is The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Not only does Frollo have the best Disney villain song, it's so much more grown up than other Disney films and I think it may have been a combination of this and Beauty and the Beast which massively triggered my love of France..

6. I've mentioned many times how brilliant a princess I find Tiana from The Princess and the Frog and I still stand by that. She's hardworking, stands up for herself yet is still as kind and polite as a good princess should be, so for that alone, the film makes it into my top 10.

7. I've never been one to suck up to The Lion King, despite how well made it is. But I've had so much appreciation for Scar lately, particularly Be Prepared. I've been kind of obsessed with Disney villain songs lately and Scar is such a brutal, genuinely evil character- one of the best!

8. I was having a look through my Disney films the other day, choosing one to watch whilst falling asleep and  Dumbo caught my eye. Honestly, it's not one I normally turn to- despite being an absolute classic- but I gave it a go and goodness me! My love for it has been rekindled

9. I already know what I'm putting at my Number 10 so this one is going to be the most difficult. I have about 3 films that I've spent a while narrowing down and I'm still not 100% sure about my final choice. But I'm going to say Mulan. She, as a female lead, is just incredible and I'll Make A Man Out Of You is played on repeat when I have a lot of work to do. What a woman!

10. Now, I have saved my current favourite till last. In fact, it's my current top 2 but that's allowed right? Particularly when I tell you that they're Mary Poppins and Saving Mr Banks. Last week, there wasn't a day when I went to bed without watching Mary Poppins. I'm not sure what it is exactly about it, but I can't be sad whilst Mary and Bert skip round, enjoying their Jolly Holiday and having a good ol' dance on the rooftops of London. I'd go as far as to say that the scene when Jane and Michael sing their advertisement is one of my favourite movie scenes of all time- it's just so incredibly heartwarming!

I do love writing a good Disney post- I know they tend to split opinions because some find them 'childish' and 'immature' whereas others love them. I enjoy writing them though so I'm gonna stick with it! There probably won't be another for a while but I'd love to have Disney themed chats with you in the comments...
